PEngPathwayPEngPathway ("we", "us") is an independent study and organization tool for people pursuing Canadian professional engineering (P.Eng.) licensure. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any engineering regulator. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, and a display name if you provide one. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the basic identifier and email those services share.
- Profile you enter: regulator, discipline, graduation year, experience level, and stage — used to tailor your pathway.
- Study data: your flashcard/question activity, per-subject readiness, lesson progress, and any project-experience records, validator entries, and notes you create.
- Advisor questions: the questions you send to the in-app Advisor, and any context you explicitly choose to share with it.
- Basic usage/diagnostic data: limited technical information needed to operate the app (e.g., error logs).
We do not knowingly collect special categories of data, and we ask you not to enter confidential drawings, proprietary information, or personal data of others.
How we use it
- To provide and sync your study progress, pathway, and records across your devices.
- To generate Advisor answers (see "AI features" below).
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app.
- We do not sell your personal information.
AI features (the Advisor)
When you use the Advisor, your question — and any context you choose to share — is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate a response. It is processed to answer you and is not used to train third-party models under our configuration. Do not enter confidential or proprietary information. Advisor answers are educational and may be incomplete or wrong; official regulator requirements always prevail.
Where your data lives (service providers)
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication (your account and app data).
- OpenAI — processes Advisor questions to generate answers.
- Apple / Google — only if you choose their sign-in.
- RevenueCat / the app stores — only if/when you make a purchase.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Privacy & data → Delete account). Deletion permanently removes your account and associated data (profile, journey, study progress, evidence and validator records). Backups and provider logs may persist for a limited period before being overwritten.
Your choices and rights
- Toggle Advisor personalization and study analytics in Account → Privacy & data.
- Access or delete your data via the app; for other requests, contact us at the email above.
- Depending on your province/country, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion) under laws such as PIPEDA.
Children
PEngPathway is intended for adults pursuing professional licensure and is not directed to children. Do not use it if you are under 16.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (including access controls and encryption in transit) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will change the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
